Initial Stonework Consultation
An initial consultation allows us to discuss your concerns, understand the property and establish the most appropriate scope for the survey.
Photographs and background information can be useful at this stage, although an in-person inspection may be required before firm recommendations can be made.
Photographic Site Survey
During the site visit, we assess the accessible stonework and create a comprehensive photographic record of its existing condition.
We consider the type of stone, surrounding materials, mortar joints and evidence of previous repairs, as well as factors that may be contributing to deterioration, including moisture, exposure and building movement.
Scheduled Condition Report
Our findings can be presented in an itemised report that identifies areas of damage or deterioration, outlines possible causes and explains the likely effects of further neglect.
A straightforward traffic-light system provides a clear visual indication of condition and urgency, helping clients distinguish routine maintenance from work requiring more immediate attention.
Recommendations and Estimated Costings
Following the survey, we provide practical recommendations for repair, together with suitable options and estimated costings for the required work.
Recommendations may include localised stone and mortar repairs, lime pointing, stone consolidation, replacement masonry, cleaning or the careful removal of unsuitable previous work.
