Stone Carving & Lettering
BESPOKE STONE CARVING & LETTERING
Using traditional techniques, our experienced stone carvers create individual pieces ranging from decorative architectural details to inscriptions, plaques and memorial stonework.
Every commission is carefully designed and carved to complement the chosen stone, its surroundings and the character of the project.
Our Stone Carving and Lettering Services
Working from drawings, photographs, existing stonework or an original idea, we create bespoke pieces in our specialist Sussex workshop.
We also use 3D scanning and modelling to accurately capture existing stonework, allowing us to reproduce damaged or missing architectural details with precision.
For new commissions, we can also create a detailed maquette so you can visualise and refine the finished piece before carving begins.
Architectural Stone Carving
We produce hand-carved architectural features for historic and modern buildings.
Our work can include decorative mouldings, capitals, finials, relief carving, coats of arms and other individual architectural details.
Restoration Carving
Weathering and damage can cause original carved details to become worn or lost over time.
We can carefully recreate missing or deteriorated elements, working from the surviving stonework, photographs or historic references to produce a sympathetic replacement.
Hand-Cut Stone Lettering
We create hand-cut lettering for plaques, house names, commemorative stones, memorials and architectural inscriptions.
The lettering style, size, spacing and finish are tailored to the stone and the setting in which the finished piece will be displayed.
Bespoke Carving Commissions
We also undertake individual stone carving commissions for private clients, architects, designers and organisations.
From an initial idea through to the finished piece, we can advise on the design, stone selection, scale and finish.
From a single hand-cut inscription to an intricate architectural carving, every detail is created with precision and individual character.
